CosmoProf North America just released its 2012 Trend Report, which is available online. The report features some of the strongest beauty trends from the show in Las Vegas last July.

Nail trends and nail products were a big part of the show. Orly Beauty showed its new at-home gel manicure kit. Nail polish packaging was not forgotten — CID Cosmetics featured its i-polish, a bottle with a built-in light.

Nail polish that has a textured finish is another trend. Aestheticians showed off CND’s new powder additives, which were developed for professionals and are being marketed to salons. The pure pigment mica powder delivers rich color when applied directly to nails, and can give nails a glimmer, sparkle or other unusual textures.

According to the report, many skin care brands featured new products made with exotic ingredients, such as Manuka Doctor, which is the first skin care line infused with bee venom.

There were also a few high tech products, like Essio’s aromatherapy shower attachment, which releases an essential oil from a disposable pod.
